Noah Reid; 'Sheriff Country'Eric Hobbs/CBS
EXCLUSIVE: Noah Reid is looking to join Max Thieriot and Morena Baccarin as the lead of a Fire Country– Sheriff Country universe series.
The Schitt’s Creek alum has been tapped to appear in one episode of the upcoming second season of CBS‘ cop drama Sheriff Country as Dr. Hudson “Hud” Henshaw. The guest star casting comes with a series regular option as Reid would headline a Sheriff Country medical drama spinoff if the network goes for it. Set in Edgewater, the untitled offshoot is informally referred to as Edge Med.
CBS took the same route with Sheriff Country, which originated with lead Baccarin guest starring on the mothership Fire Country as Sheriff Mickey Fox before the spinoff was picked up to series.

Reid’s Dr. Hudson “Hud” Henshaw is the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Edgewater Memorial Hospital a/k/a “Edge Med.” Charming and quick-witted, but rough-around-the-edges, Hud was born and raised in the outlaw hinterland known as Deadwater. He is the proud son of convicted felons, yet refused to take the family’s drug money to pay for medical school. He is a passionate doctor who embodies his oath to “first do no harm,” yet is not one to shy away from a good bar fight. A man deeply committed to the community he grew up in, he is a restless soul all the same.
Hud’s family background echoes that of Sheriff Country‘s Mickey whose dad Wes is an ex-con and illegal marijuana grower. Reid landed the role after a lengthy casting search that included straight offers and reading actors.
This would not be Canadian-American actor-musician Reid’s first time headlining an American series — he previously played the title character on the 2015 ABC Family (now Freeform) comedy series Kevin From Work.
Reid is known for his role as Patrick on Schitt’s Creek, sharing a Comedy Ensemble SAG Award with the rest of the series’ cast and winning a Canadian Screen Award for his performance.
More recently, Reid was a series regular on Prime Video’s metaphysical Western drama Outer Range opposite Josh Brolin and Imogen Poots.
He is coming off an arc on Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat, the latest installment of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire. He next stars opposite Carrie-Anne Moss, Hudson Williams, and Clark Backo in the upcoming Bell/Crave series Yaga, which will be carried in the U.S. by AMC+. Reid is repped by GGA and Circle Management + Production.
