An animated TV series adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s popular “ Diablo” video game franchise is in development at Netflix.
“Diablo” is set the dark world of Sanctuary, where humanity is caught in the eternal conflict between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.
The first “Diablo” game launched in 1996, marking this year as the 30th anniversary of the action-RPG franchise. The most recent “Diablo” game, “Diablo IV,” launched in 2023.

The “Diablo” TV series development news was announced by Blizzard president Johanna Faries during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday. The two-day fan-festival event, which is the first BlizzCon since Microsoft closed its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023, is a celebration of all things Blizzard Entertainment, from “Diablo” to “World of Warcraft” to “Overwatch.”

“BlizzCon in and of itself represents so much for all of us to be able to shine a light on all the great work going on at Blizzard,” Faries told Variety in an interview ahead of the event. “We have put a lot of thought into this moment, and why now, and how do we continue to capture and build on the momentum we’re experiencing as an organization.”
